 How to Retrieve a Email Message Header
Depending on the email software you are using, obtaining the header message required different step. Below is a list of the more popular email programs and instructions for getting the header message. For more information, refer to your specific email program or consult your users manual.


Microsoft Outlook Express 5 and 6
1. Click the "File" menu.
2. Click "Properties".
3. Click the "Details" tab.
4. Click "Message Source".
5. Highlight, copy and paste everything from this window (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C).

Microsoft 2000 and 2002/XP
1. Open the message in a separate window (double click).
2. Under the View menu select Options.
3. Copy the text in the Internet Headers window.

Microsoft Outlook Express for Macintosh
1. Select the email.
2. From the View menu, choose Source.
3. A new window will appear containing the email with full headers.
4. Press command+a to select all, then command+c to copy.

Microsoft Exchange
1. Click the "File" menu.
2. Click "Properties".
3. Click the "Details" tab.
4. Click "Message Source".
5. Highlight, copy and paste everything from the "Message Source" window (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C).

Microsoft Outlook Web Access
1. Left click on the letter you want to open and click on properties.
2. When that opens click on the details tab.
3. Then on message source.
4. This will open the email so the full headers will be available for viewing.
5. Select and copy the text.

Netscape
1. Click on the "View" menu.
2. Then "Page Source," (ctrl-U in windows, meta-U in unix, ?-U on the Mac).
3. Then copy the contents of the window (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C windows).

Eudora
1. Open the email by double clicking on the subject line.
2. Click the 'blah blah blah' button to reveal the headers.
3. Place your cursor anywhere in the body of the email and select the entire message (Edit/Select All or Ctrl-A).
4. Copy the entire email (right click and click copy OR Ctl/C OR Edit/Copy).

The Bat!
1. Select the message.
2. Click on the "Messages" menu.
3. Select "View Source".

Hotmail
1. Configure your options:
2. Click on "Options."
3. In the "Additional Options" column.
4. Click on "Mail Display Options"
5. Find the item "Message Headers."
6. Choose "Advanced" and click the "OK" button.
7. Use the "View E-mail Message Source" to display the message in raw mode.

Yahoo Mail
1. In the email message, click the 'Full Headers' link.
2. Then copy the headers.

Excite web-mail
1. Click on Preferences on the Email home page.
2. Click on Email Preferences.
3. Check the box to display headers.
4. Click on Save.

Netscape Webmail
1. While viewing the message.
2. Click on the yellow triangle to the right of the brief message headers.
3. This will display the full headers along with the message body.

StarOffice
1. Right click on the container name in the explorer panel.
2. Select the Properties item from the pop-up menu.
3. In the properties notebook, select the Headers tab.
4. Click the "All" button on the right.
5. Press "OK", the complete header is available in the header panel.

Juno
1. In the Juno mail client, click "file" and then "Save Message as Text File.
2. Give the file a name which you will remember.
3. Double-click on the resulting file and then cut-and-paste the contents.
